The Coconut Poem
"The Coconut Poem" written by Jose Garcia Villa. He was a Filipino poet, literary critic, short story writer, and painter. Also, he awarded the National Artist of the Philippine title for literature in 1973 as well as the Guggenheim fellowship in creative writing by Conrad Aiken. Jose Garcia Villa was born on August 5, 1908 and he died on February 1997 at the age of 88.
This poem used figure of speech which is simile because the author's compares the abundance of coconut with number of a woman in the world. This poem is not only focuses on the women's upper part body(breast), it focuses on the women's life, and l think the author's wrote this poem because he want to expressed and show to everyone the importance of every women in our life as they give birth to us. Moreover, as the author's said that "soon as the coconut will grow heavy and full: l shall pick one ...many ... " in this line the author's show to everyone that he want to suck and taste different women, but when we connect it in our own lives, this means that we have to try and choose the greatest career in our lives and we need to try more in order learn more because l believe that, the more you try new things the more you gain.
